Scott & Suzette Tittle on a Tandem Surf at Lanier!!
2014 marked the first annual Southern Surfest event. We were blown away by the participation and support of the local community as well as those who came in from out of town. It was truly a remarkable event that everyone left a better surfer and even better friends!
Over the course of two days there were 8 boats, 60+ boards, 34 riders and 4 pro riders. The structure of the event was for each rider to ride in every boat and they could select any board on that boat to try. Each boat had a variety of skim, surf, long, hybrid and grom boards. 12 board companies supplied over 60 surfboards! Pro riders were present not only to show off their skills but to also give tips and pointers so everyone could improve their riding. There are few events where you can demo this many boats and this many boards over the course of two days and currently, Southern Surfest is the only one in the southeast.
Southern Surfest will be back April 28, 29 & 30, 2017 so reserve the date as you don’t want to miss this!
Check out the boat and board reviews by going to the boat and board pages. Just click on the boat or board picture and the review will pop up. Each review will provide you with the average rating for the category. This will give a good representation from the diverse crowd who attended the event. The averages represent beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. There was also a broad range of age groups represented as well. If you see a low rating on “rider weight compatibility” then you know that you need to be sure to pay close attention for the intended weight range for a particular board. We plan to take what we learned this year and make the review structure even better for 2015. Feel free to contact us with any suggestions by clicking on the contact us link.
